staging area, market and mission streets. now the parade will end up at san francisco city hall and that's where the main stage is set up and it is filled with championship ban first and millions are expected to be there as it starts at 11:00 this morning. here is the parade route, it starts at the ferry building and will go up market streets, turn on mcalester and turn on pacific plaza. if you are planning to go, more than a half million people took bart and this year there may be a new bunch of people going to the parade. >> reporter: giants fans are boarding and we have seen a steady stream of them. a lot of them are dreary eyed and we had to see a lot of them get up in time for the parade. hope flip if you plan on taking bart you have already purchases your -- purchased your ticket and people were waiting extremely long as officials broke down because they were so filled with money. this year they have emptied the machines. we caught up with a father who said he didn't mind his child missing school for some history. >> reporter: you didn't mind him missing school for this? >> it

the first national league team to accomplish that feat since the cincinnati reds in the mid 1970s. >>> bad fans were in the streets of san francisco celebrating the giants, but in some parts of the city, the celebration turned ugly. our reporter is live at 16th and mission where vandals caused damage and destruction. good morning. >> reporter: good morning, dave. up until just about an hour ago, there was a huge mess out here in the middle of mission street from 16th all the way up to 24th. right in the middle of the street you can see a pile of garbage that was in one of the dumpsters that caught fire still left out here in the middle of the street. you can see the pavement has been watered down though, and the street is reopened to traffic. this is what caused the mess this morning, rowdy crowds celebrating the giants' victory set fire to at least a half dozen dumpsters. our battalion chief said one of the dumpsters threatened a business next to it, but firefighters were able to put it out. there have been no reports of serious damage to any of the businesses and shops in the mi

will fly its city flag at half staff today. they are marking the first anniversary of the death of steve jobs. this is video of steve job's last public appearance at a cupertino city council meeting. this was a month before he died. that is where he laid out his plan for apples new circular headquarters building. mayor mark says flying the flag at half staff is a small reminder of the impact steve jobs had on the community. >>> it's a depressing time for san jose sharks fans. the national hockey league has canceled the first two weeks of the regular season due to the players lockout. the sharks will miss at least five games including three home games. the owners and players remain split over revenue sharing and no new talks are scheduled. >>> the bay area has baseball playoff fever. it's paying off big for a lot of local businesses too. hotels are already booked up in san francisco. part of it has to do with the playoff game between the giants and the cincinnati reds. some are paying up to $500 a night for hotel rooms. and in the east bay businesses are getting ready for big crowds
